more about
My name is Wayne, and I stand before you as a humble servant.
Kagawong is my cherished home, where my family has spent summers since 1987. In 2020, we decided to make Manitoulin our permanent residence. Living here allows me to pursue my passions for nature and art, and I strive to maintain a positive outlook every day.
Through my personal and professional experiences, along with my travels, I’ve embraced the diversity of food, art, and music. With the steadfast support of my husband, I draw inspiration from these experiences and express my creativity through ceramics, particularly in bonsai, orchid cultivation, Ikebana, and the Japanese Tea Ceremony. The right pot is vital for honoring nature, whether in bonsai or enhancing the beauty of orchids. Each art form enriches my life and reflects a deep cultural heritage.
In 2016, my journey evolved into a profound calling that transformed my life. With my Hanko registered in the World’s Registry, I am guided by the mantra: "Embrace Greatness, Cultivate Abundance, Nurture Hope, Celebrate Life." I am dedicated to mastering traditional Japanese arts, with pottery serving as an essential link to the world around me.
I honor the natural world—the sands, soils, rocks, and mountains—as ancient teachers of resilience, deeply intertwined with the art of pottery. Each material embodies the earth’s beauty and strength, deserving of our respect. By forging a connection with these elements through the art of bonsai, I embrace Mother Nature’s wisdom and recognize the plants and animals that sustain us, gaining profound insights into the delicate balance of coexistence.
Through my pottery, I strive to inspire a greater appreciation for our relationship with the earth and all living beings, celebrating our place in the cycle of life.
